LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire

We provide a wide range of services for young people aged 11-25 identifying as LGBT+ or who are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity as well support parents and carers. Unless otherwise stated, referrals can be made by professionals working with young people or families of young people, or self-referrals by young people over the age of 13 only.

LGBT+ Counselling Services

Provided to young people aged 11-25 identifying as LGBT+ or who are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. Our qualified counsellors will work with young people individually or as part of a family unit, giving them the opportunity to express their feelings, explore and understand their difficulties and help and support to try and find ways of managing these more effectively.

Counselling appointments are available at different venues within the Bassetlaw area. No home visits are possible.

Trans* Support

One-to-one and group support trans* service for young people aged 16-25. The one to one and group sessions offering a safe and supporting space to explore gender identity, access support and information and meet other young trans people. The service provides a wide range of support and information to young trans people covering many aspects of life and gender-related issues.

Parents support

We run a parents support group that provides a safe space for parents/carers whose children are LGBT+ or are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity to meet other parents and carers in the same or similar situation and access support and information from fully trained members of staff. The group is open to all parents/carers regardless of the age of their child/children.

11-16 LGBT+ support

The 11-16 service offers confidential one-to-one and group services providing specialist support to young people who identify as LGBT+ or are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. Young people can access support from a trained member of staff on a range of issues including: emotional support, coming out, sexual health advice, hate crime reporting, information on LGBT rights and legislation, tackling discrimination, social support, accessing LGBT health services, support with issues in school and one to one or family counselling.

16-25 LGBT+ support

Worksop Out on Wednesday (WOW) offers confidential one-to-one and group services providing specialist support to young people aged 16-25 who LGBT+ or are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. Young people can access support from a trained member of staff on a range of issues.
